fallen angels — chapter 3.7: stitches

WARNING: Foul Language. Pictures may take a moment to load. It is recommended you read the chapter on my blog, not Reader.

The kick to my left comes fast, almost nailing me in the head as I drop and spin, swinging my leg out. Lucifer’s face is a mask of brutal concentration as he dodges my own kick, his foot nearly crushing my fingers as I roll backwards onto my feet, my breathing coming fast and panicked. I can feel my heart thudding against my ribs, like a terrified bird in a cage. His technique is too fast and strong compared to mine, and in the space of a second, his hands lock around my arms with enough strength to break my bones, before-

“Again.” Luc releases me and I groan, slumping against the wall. “But I’m tired! I’ve been training for two hours and you still haven’t let me have a break!” I snap, knowing that I sound exactly like a five year old, but I am too exhausted to care. Luc rolls his green eyes, and I note with annoyance that his shirt is as clean and dry as when we began. I know he works as a boxer, or something, but am I really that easy to beat? Is my training simply not good enough for this city? “In real life, your attacker isn’t going to wait for you to catch your breath, dumbass,” He snaps impatiently.

image

“Well, it’s not real life, and besides, I’ve only been training with you for a week. I am not getting back up right now, you jerk!” I shoot back at him, crossing my arms petulantly. Luc acknowledges my childish stubbornness with an irritated shake of his head. “Fuck, whatever.” He turns his back on me and flops down onto the nearby couch, throwing his arm across his face with an exasperated sigh. “I should have said no when Gabriel asked me to teach you. You are such a girl.”

image

I scramble to my feet, anger rising to eclipse my tiredness in an instant. “What is that supposed to mean?” I demand. Lucifer smiles slightly with his eyes still closed. “I am not getting back up right now, you jerk!” He mimics in a falsetto. I should probably recognise that he’s just teasing me for the fun of it, but I’m too hungry and fatigued and pissed off to register it. “And what does that have to do with me being a girl?” I stride forward, ready to smack the smirk off his face. “Are you even listening to me, you- hey!”

image

Lucifer’s hand darts out and wraps around my wrist, and before I can do anything but yelp, he pulls me onto him and I find my face inches from his. “I was listening,” He says calmly as I gasp, trying and failing to push myself off him. “I meant that girls can be hell of a lot more stubborn than boys.” Lucifer pauses, one corner of his lips quirking up. “Take that as a compliment.” Asshole.

image

“What are you two doing?” I finally manage to wriggle free of Lucifer’s grip, falling off the couch and looking up to see Gabriel in the doorway. He must have just come back from work; teaching at one of the city’s Muay Thai gyms. His dark eyebrows are raised and his arms are folded. “Nothing!” I say crossly, deeply embarrassed at the thought of what we must have looked like to Gabriel. “Blame your brother.” I turn pointedly away from Lucifer, who has a maddeningly satisfied smirk on his face.

image

Gabriel gives me a look that clearly says he doesn’t believe me. “Well, you can get back to whatever you were doing.” He finally says, his tone steady but cold. “I can talk to you later.” The door shuts rather loudly behind him and my heart sinks. “This is all your fault!” I accuse Lucifer. “Can’t help that your reflexes are shit,” He says lazily.

image

I storm out of the room, cursing him under my breath. I know that he’s riling me up on purpose, and that’s why I’m acting so irritable, but something about Luc Torres is so damn infuriating. He thinks he can play around with any girl he wants! I will give it to him that he’s been blessed with undeniably good looks, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to punch his stupid, annoying, attractive face every time he speaks.

image

Gabriel is entering his bedroom when I catch up to him. “I was telling the truth,” I say pleadingly. “We weren’t doing anything- I was just yelling at your brother and he pulled-” Gabriel cuts me off by turning around and looking me in the eye coolly. “No offence, Cherry, but I don’t really care.”

image

I recoil, stung. “But I thought that from the way you reacted-” “That I what?” He replies sharply, his tone cutting through me painfully. I look down, my face suddenly burning. “Oh… I just assumed…” Gabriel’s silver eyes narrow at my stammered words. “You assumed that I felt jealous?”

I draw in a shocked breath, feeling as if I had been slapped. “You were the one who almost kissed me last week!” I say furiously. Gabriel is the one to flinch this time, closing his eyes and then opening them again with a chilling anger. “That was a mistake.

image

To my horror, my eyes instantly fill with tears and I step back from him, covering my face with my hands. “I’m sorry,” Gabriel sighs quietly. “I’m sorry I keep on doing this to you.” He gently takes my hands away from my eyes, a resigned expression on his handsome features. “I want to talk to you.”

image

***

Gabriel’s bedroom is exactly as I would have imagined it to be; it is bare and impersonal, with the same floor-to-ceiling window in the other rooms casting sunlight across the floor. There’s no photographs, or paintings, nothing that gives away who he is. But I suppose that’s the point.

image

The door shuts gently behind me and I bite my lip, unsure of where to sit or what to do. Gabriel leans on the wall heavily, his head turned to the still grey ocean outside the window. “Cherry, I know my behaviour towards you lately has hurt you.” The word hurt lingers on his tongue, and we both know it’s a light way of putting it.

“Yes,” I snap. “Why are you so hot and cold all the time?” Gabriel sighs and tucks his hands in his pockets, something he does often, I’ve noticed. “I… don’t know.” His voice is troubled. “I do like you. And that worries me.”

image

“Oh,” I say in a tiny voice. Gabriel doesn’t turn and just stares out to the cloudy harbour. “I just can’t forget,” He says heavily, and I get the feeling he isn’t quite focusing on me anymore. “I want more than anything to erase everything, but I can’t.”

“What happened, Gabriel?” I ask softly. He doesn’t answer me for a moment, just pressing his palm to his forehead in frustration. “Look… there was this girl.” He takes a deep breath. “I loved her. With everything I had.” Gabriel looks at me, and I bite my lip, sure that something much worse had happened than he was letting on. “I’m afraid, Cherry,” He says faintly, obviously struggling to keep his composure. “I’m afraid that I’ll hurt myself and you if I… I’m sorry. It’s not your fault.”

image

I nod once, feeling as if I’m going to begin crying again. “I understand, Gabriel.” And I haven’t just understood why he acts so bipolar towards me. I have understood that even though Gabriel hasn’t moved, he is walking away from me, slowly pulling at the invisible string between us until it breaks.

And there is nothing I can do about it.

***

Raphael looks back at me, his amber eyes gleaming in the night like a cat. “Are you ready?” I nod tersely in reply. Tonight, it’s my first robbery. The word robbery sounds strange in my head, and the freshly exposed idea brings nausea bubbling in my stomach again. What am I doing? I can’t steal… it’s against the law. It’s morally wrong. But I remember what Gabriel told me a few nights ago; in this world, money equals status, or importance. The rich don’t care about the poor. In the end, the biggest wrong being committed is not stealing some cash that a celebrity won’t even miss, but the fact that those celebrities, rolling in their wealth, are deciding to ignore the poverty in their own city.

image

The reminder cements my resolve. In a few minutes, I’ll be sneaking into someone’s multi-million dollar mansion and robbing it. Who would have thought, sweet little Cherry Kingston, daughter of Sunset Valley’s most revered police officer, would become a thief? I must have laughed out loud at the thought, because I realise Raphael is giving me a strange look.

“Sorry,” I whisper. He simply nods and I can tell what he is thinking; my laughter is out of nerves. And that’s true, for the most part. I focus my attention through the trees and to our target. A large contemporary home shining dully under the moonlight, surrounded by a tall fence. Somewhere on those cash-flushed walls, security cameras will be silently guarding the house — but not unless Michel does his job.

We wait for a couple of minutes in silence. I can feel my leg jittering uncontrollably and my gloved hands are beginning to slick up with sweat, yet Raphael is completely still, simply watching the house. How long must he have done this sort of thing? Raphael isn’t an open kind of person, and despite having lived with him for a week, I know nothing more about him than his name, and that he works at a tattoo parlour downtown.

image

A small beep cuts through the night air, and Raphael glances down at his watch. “We have ten minutes. Do you remember everything Gabriel told you?” He says urgently. I incline my head, the words suddenly sticking in my throat. And just like that, Raphael begins sprinting towards the house and I scramble after him, adrenaline erasing every thought out of my head except for: I’m actually doing this.

Raphael pulls himself over the fence with an incredibly easy grace, and then reaches down to pull me up as well. The cold concrete scrapes against my skin as I clumsily scale the wall, and land with a small thud on the grass inside the property. A second later, he jumps down without a sound and beckons me to enter the house.

image

A couple of hours ago, Michel had told me about this mansion. Built by an architect twenty years ago, occupied by an old man and woman, respectively 72 and 64, famous film stars in the 50’s. Both of them languish in their wealth, with six servants that wait on them all day. There is no record of charity or donations given by them, in all their long lives. The old man was a strong protester against the civil rights movement in the 60’s, the woman is a notoriously snobby lady who likes to wear furs and at least a thousand dollar’s worth of diamonds at all times.

Oh, this is going to be fun.

The back door is obviously locked, but Raphael begins fiddling with the mechanism with the aura of someone who has done this a million times. In the few seconds he takes to do this, I look around carefully. There are security cameras close by, but they are blank, no red blinking lights. Michel does his job well. They’ll be off for exactly ten minutes, a timeframe that is easy for him to manipulate so suspicion won’t be aroused. The door clicks open and I feel a strange surge of excitement that eclipses my constantly beating fear for a tiny moment.

image

The inside of the mansion… is extravagant, to say the least. Even in the dark, I can tell the floors are made out of marble, the walls gilded with golden leopard print. The lounge is double height, the enormous windows offering breathtaking views of the city. How much did it make to create this vista? How much did the old couple pay for this grand piano? Their wealth practically screams out of each orifice of this house. It’s so beautiful that it’s awful.

image

Raphael analyses everything before telling me what to take, carefully, carefully. I can tell that he is choosing things that the owners won’t even notice the absence for a long time. A handful of cash from a carelessly left wallet. A pearl necklace in a drawer of identical pearls. Antique buttons, small things. Things they won’t miss, but are still worth more money than the Torres apartment. Every time I slip something into my pocket, my heartbeat speeds up a little more, expecting an alarm to begin wailing or someone to jump out at us. But the house remains without life. It’s only me, Raphael, and the faraway skyscrapers watching us through the windows.

image

Eight minutes is up when Raphael leads me out of the mansion and over the fence. I release a breath I didn’t know I was holding when we are safely in the trees. “How are you feeling?” He asks me after a minute, while we are walking down the road, the wind softly blowing through my hair. The lights of the city glitter pleasantly in the distance. “Like I just did something good.” I smile, and I do feel good; there’s an odd happiness bubbling through me. I just robbed a house. What would my mother think if she knew? I don’t care anymore.

My pockets clink against my hips as I walk. We’ll trade it all in, at the tiny shop between an antique store and a dusty bookshop which no one visits. A little of the money will be kept to pay our bills and taxes, but the rest will either go towards blankets or clothes or food that Lilith will buy and give out, or be handed straight to the people Michel has determined to have no drug or alcohol addiction history. That’s the best part of it all: seeing the homeless, or poor single mothers with six kids in a dingy apartment… just smile.

image

After we trade in the bounty for cash, we begin walking home. Raphael is silent as we pass through the twinkling streets, his hands shoved in his pockets. The city is fairly empty tonight; an important football game is on at the stadium, which was where the old couple were. There are fairy lights around street lamps and trees, promising of festivities in the coming winter, of frosted Christmas displays in the now closed shop windows, of ice skating and hot chocolate with whipped cream in the now deserted parks. But there are still some citygoers around, paying for tickets in the movie theatre, or their chatter and clinking of plates drifting over from the Thai restaurant, Mix Moon, across the road. The smell is so good — satay chicken, green curry, the spicy prawn pad thai that Lilith adores. “Can we have Thai sometime?” I tilt my head at Raphael pleadingly, and surprisingly, he nods with a hint of a smile.

image

I think we are about halfway home when he suddenly begins walking faster, by so much I have to run to keep up with his long legs. “What’s up?” I whisper once I draw level to him again. “Don’t look on the other side of the street,” He says shortly. I fight the urge to do the exact opposite and my eyes flit over for a second. I don’t see what he’s worried about for a moment, but then I see a group of three young men and two women, who look around our age. A couple are smoking cigarettes. The vibe they give off is dangerous — the vibe of a gang, looking for trouble.

image

I’m not quite sure why Raphael is so tense, but I follow him anyway. If he gets scared of anything, there is a pretty goddamn good reason behind it. “Shit, they’ve noticed me,” He curses, and I see what he means a moment later. “Hey, Raphael!” A woman’s voice calls. The tone is playful and friendly, but I can sense it’s a thin veneer over a much darker intention.

image

We ignore the woman, and I can hear her footsteps over the rumble of cars flowing between us. “Raphael! Raphie!” At his nickname, Raphael jerks to a sudden stop, and I look at him in confusion, not sure exactly what is going on or what I am supposed to do. I’m surprised at his expression; an intense anger that I have never seen before on him, although it seems bitterly familiar. It reminds me of Gabriel, and this kind of potent fury is strange on a face that seems to always be impervious.

image

The enmity is so brief, however, that I’m left wondering if I had imagined the emotion as Raphael turns around, his face now arranged into his usual smooth, cool disinterest. “What do you want, Ebony?” I turn around to see who he is talking to, and draw in a quick, sharp breath. Just looking at the woman standing in front of us sends a hot rush of jealousy through me. Her face is beautiful, with piercing golden eyes, full lips, high cheekbones. Her hair is dark and shiny, and she has a gorgeous figure. She’s so pretty, I feel like crying. For what must be the hundredth time, I ask myself why there are so many attractive people in Bridgeport.

image

Ebony smiles. “I just wanted to say hello, Raphie.” At this, I can see his muscles beginning to work again in his jaw. “Don’t call me that,” He snaps. The other woman just gives him a sweet pout. “Aww, sorry, baby Lilith is only allowed to call you that, right?” She croons. “We just haven’t talked in a long time, I forgot, my bad.” It’s obvious she hadn’t forgotten at all, and I feel a slight pulse of anxiety at the hint of poison I can hear behind her words. This woman knows exactly what she is talking about, picking at Raphael’s nerves so acutely like that. As if just noticing me, Ebony looks at me with her lips in a perfect little o. “And who is this?”

image

“Cherry,” I say bravely. She gazes at me for a moment, her eyes sharp, in contrast to her beguiling voice. “Nice to meet you, Cherry.” She says silkily. I give her a half-smile in return, watching her warily. Her purpose is unclear. Why is she talking to us? It’s quite obvious Raphael dislikes her presence. “I hope everyone is well,” Ebony continues, when both of us stay silent. “How is dear Gabriel doing?”

image

I can tell from the way Raphael flinches beside me that we have reached the real reason behind this conversation. “He’s-” And there must be a whole lot of things he wants to say, but he clamps his mouth shut. “Goodbye,” He growls, and grabs me by the elbow to pull me away from her.

“Who the hell is she?” I ask once we are far out of earshot, the apartment looming into view. “No one,” Raphael says cuttingly. I stay quiet, not believing him. Something about the woman makes me think that she knows the Torres well. Too well. The way she spoke was… almost nostalgic. Ebony unnerved me, in a way that I can’t exactly pin down.

image

I think our conversation is over as we walk along the pavement, towards the welcoming light of the foyer. But just before we enter the elevator, Raphael stops me. His amber eyes are dark and serious. “Whatever you do, Cherry, don’t mention Ebony to Gabriel.” “Unless what?” I frown up at him. He closes his eyes briefly, and a sigh flutters his long hair.

“Unless you want him to murder you on the spot.”

Hey, I posted this way earlier than I thought I would! *pats self on back*

I am happy to say that writer’s block is nowhere to be seen and I am writing a couple of chapters in advance. I’m incredibly excited to unravel some mysteries and create some more, and show you all the history and plot I’ve been cooking up in my head. It’s starting to come together, finally, which feels great! By the way, I know Ebony looks like Lilith… please ignore that o__o

Anyways, a small favour! Could you tell me who your favourite character in Generation 3 is so far, please? I’m curious to see what image each one is presenting to the readers. Also… who do you ship? Thanks 🙂

I hoped you enjoyed Chapter 3.7 and I would love to hear your theories/thoughts! ❤

  1. I thought Ebony was Lilith. They look EXACTLY the same… I don’t know who my favorite character is, probably Michel. I don’t ship anyone in particular but I prefer Cherry going with Lucifer than Gabriel. And also Lilith and Michel (Am I joking? I don’t know).

      1. I actually so agree with you Fibijean, he is way too cocky and rude to Cherry! I’ve developed his character a lot in future chapters though, so your view of him will probably change… 🙂

  2. Awesome! Was not expecting to see a new chapter so soon lol. The story is going great, I’m so excited to read more. My favourite character… probably Gabriel? Or Lilith… Gabriel is rather intriguing, not to mention attractive! And Lilith is just really sweet to Cherry, it’s nice to watch.
To conclude – are you kidding?! Gabriel and Cherry aaaalll the way!!

    1. Thanks! Haha I wasn’t expecting to post so soon either, but I managed to sneak some extra hours of Sims in! I agree that it’s quite hard to choose a favourite between those two, Gabriel sure is attractive lmao. He and Cherry are cute together, too bad he just pushed her away lol.
Thank you for reading and commenting, Fibijean!

  3. I thought Cherry would do well with Gabriel, but right now I kind of like Lucifer. My favourite characters would probably be Cherry and Lucifer and maybe Lilith and Raphael – they’re all really nice, but Gabriel is being a bit confusing and strange.
    Great chapter! 🙂

    1. Lmao I agree! Gabriel definitely has some secrets right now which are confusing us all. His behaviour will make sense later on, but for now he’s a mystery…
Thanks for reading and commenting, Shannynlee4 🙂

  4. Ooh, Ebony must have been the one who hurt Gabe! She should stay away from him- he’s hurt enough.
I actually really like Luc. He’s entrataining to watch. And Lillith is also really cool- she looks like a femme fatale but is actually really nice.

    1. Ebony definitely needs to stay away from Gabriel! She’s certainly hiding things- in fact, as you pointed out with Lilith, all of them are not as what they initially seem.
I’m glad you like Luc! I try make him inject some lightheartedness into Cherry’s more serious point of view 🙂
Thanks for reading and commenting, Violincat ❤

  5. Another interesting chapter!! My favourite character so far would probably be either Luc or Raphael. I find Raphael really attractive; more so than Luc and Gabriel lol. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t look angry/bored all the time, idk or maybe it’s just me. I would like to learn more about his past. Same goes for all the other characters too. There’s still so much we don’t know about them! In terms of shipping…right now it’s Cherry and Luc for me haha. Looking forward to the next chapter as always :DDD

    1. Lmao it’s probably because Raphael is half Japanese… ahahaha I predict if I asked Nikki who is the best looking she would say Luc! I don’t know who I like the most actually, it depends on what angle I take pictures of them from.
There’s going to be a big flashback in 3.11 which will reveal a massive amount of Torres history, like the parents, real names, reason why they steal from the rich, etc. I am excited for that.
And yeah I fully ship Cherry and Luc but that may be because of what I’m writing right now… I’m up to 3.12 lol. I hope to post the next one soon but idk since exams are coming up…

  6. I am really not sure about what they are doing. The thing about stealing is bad, but I bet they believe that “the end justifies the means”. Oh, I just knew that Gabriel would be around in such an unfortunate moment. I don’t like Lucifer, he just want Cherry to be another of his girls. Oh yeah, Ebony is totally Lilith, burt who cares… Was she the girl Gabriel talked about? My favorite character is, surprisingly Cinna, lol! I loved her personality and how she reacted at Cherry’s run away. I am not really shipping anyone, see how everything unfolds…

    Liked by 1 person

    1. There is a more solid reason for why they began stealing in the first place, and when it is revealed later on you will hopefully say ‘ohhh that justifies it’! Lucifer sure is a player right now (if I was in Cherry’s place, I would hate him lol), but we’ll just see how he turns out. A lot of things are not as they seem in this family!
And yay, I really like Cinna too! Sometimes I wish I could have integrated her more into the story. Oh well, she will appear eventually.
Thanks for reading and commenting ❤

  7. “I make a sound that sounds just like a mouse being trodden on” <– HA I laughed at that line — definitely can relate to that.
So far, I really adore Cherry and Lilith — but, then again, I like all of your characters so far! 🙂
Also, basically at this point I ship Cherry with everyone tbh so I'm excited to see where it leads! 😀

  8. Sorry it took me so long to read this, college is busy… But I love Cherry and Lucifer together, I think it’d be so interesting to see him slowly open up to her. He’s probably my favorite character. Then again, her and Gabriel are super cute 😉 I’m assuming Ebony is his ex?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. That’s okay, I totally understand!
I like Cherry and Luc as well, although he’s kinda being a jerk right now. Will Gabriel get over his reluctance first or will Luc change his attitude first?
Reading this chapter I can see why it is easy to assume Ebony is his ex… but we shall see. 😉
Thanks for reading and commenting, raymondsanti! ❤

  9. Ooh. *sniffs* Do I smell a love triangle? But seriously. Gabriel obviously cares and it bothered him to catch Cherry and Lucifer in that situation. At this point I’m not sure who would be better for her, but Gabriel has some stuff to work through first. I don’t like that he pushed Cherry away the way he did, he could have been a little more sympathetic. Luc seems like a good guy too even if his personality is slightly off putting lol. And I am wondering if that girl Cherry and Raphael ran into is THE girl. The one that hurt Gabriel before, but no I wanna know what Raph meant when he said that! I wonder if Cherry will say something anyway or if Raphael will explain further in the next chapter.
I think I’ve mentioned this before, in fact I’m almost 100% positive I have, but Raphael is my favorite character so far in Gen. 3 even though he gets relatively no screen time! Lol he is mysterious and the tattoos and green hair just make him that much more interesting. I like that he and Cherry spent some time together in this chapter, even if they were robbing a house.
Who do I ship? Uh me and Raphael, duh. ❤ Lmao okay really I can't decide on anyone right now. We know so little about these people that Cherry is sharing her life with, so it's hard to choose who I want her to be with when I don't know who they are for real. Gun to my head, I have to choose? Probably Gabriel and Cherry. But I'm willing to get to know Luc better, too! 🙂
    As always, amazing chapter! ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Your senses are right! I agree how maybe Gabriel could have been nicer. But when I show his past and the true reason why he acts so cautious, you will understand why- I think the reason is a lot worse than everyone is thinking. Yep, there is so much that we don’t know yet about him and the others, which I am excited to reveal over time! I don’t really want to throw out all the information at once… I can say that Luc’s character is developed a LOT in the next chapter, but it won’t be until 3.10 where his, Gabriel and Lilith’s past is uncovered. So in a long time lmao.
I love Raphael too, and I think I need to find a place to develop him more because even though I am writing 5 chapters ahead he’s still kinda a mystery to me. In fact there are still big parts of plot, history and character which are still a mystery to me in the whole story lol. o.o
Ahaha I love that, ‘Simsered + Raphael’. It’s good that you aren’t shipping anyone solidly, to me it is a relief that the characters are coming to have many layers, so I can always surprise readers! That’s probably my main goal when writing, to always have complexity and plot twists to try make sure each chapter is exciting. 🙂
Thanks for reading and commenting, Simsered ❤

  10. Well-written… and nicely done! That’s what happens when you don’t have writer’s block. I’m jealous 🙂

I’m not sure how to feel. I have an idea or two about who they really are, but I can’t be sure… This is quite the mystery. I really like it! Haven’t decided on who I “ship” and all that… oh well, we’ll just wait and see.
    Great chapter as always!

    1. Thanks! Being free of writer’s block is certainly a glorious feeling 🙂
Yay I am happy you are finding this a mystery! It shall all be explained over time, but probably in small chunks per chapter. As I am feeling inspired I will try post asap but you know, damn pictures *shrugs*
Thank you for reading and commenting, cynanyx!

  11. Okay. I just found your blog and this generation is AMAZING! It is definately more realistic!
My favourite is probably Raphael (I kinda ship him and Cherry) or Gabriel… They are all so good.
EBONY?? Who is she? I don’t like her. xD
Also, I think I read on a previous post that the next generation is going to be dancing? If so, that’s awesome (I dance, too). I haven’t read a legacy with dancing before!

    1. Ahhhh thank you so much! This just made my day!
Lmao you could literally ship Cherry with anyone in the gang, I was thinking about her and Michel too (because he’s such a nice guy) and then I realised, too much haha…
Yep, I’m excited to show what part Ebony played in the Torres history!
And yes you are right! I’m so excited for it, the gen is going to be mostly set in a performing arts school and then a ballet company. And whaaat, that’s so cool, nice to meet a fellow dancer! What type are you? I also literally just came back from my jazz exam and I’m kinda dying haha. That was my last dance exam ever and then I’m leaving the studio… I used to do ballet, contemporary and tap as well! And I haven’t read a legacy with dancing either, so hopefully it will be fresh and enjoyable for the readers (and realistic as I’ll probably draw from my own experiences of the dance world!)
Oops, excuse my rambling lol. Thank you so much for reading my legacy and I hope you enjoy the stories to come!

      1. That sounds awesome – Performing art school? Sweet! My school is a performing arts school.
It does feel like that after exams, lol. I hope you did well!
Currently I’m doing jazz and tap (I actually have a rehearsal today!) But I’ve done ballet, contemporary and character in that past. I don’t do exams anymore, though. Contemporary is probably my favorite, and it comes more naturally to me, I guess. So whenever we had to do choreography for school (literally all the time :-P) I would mostly do contemporary. Do you choreograph?
Your legacy is so good! I am so glad I’ve found it… (It’s making me want to write something of my own, lol)
        Excited for the next chapter!

        1. That’s so cool! Are you studying full time to become a professional dancer? The studio I go to is pretty small and we only learn a syllabus each year (then do that in the exam), so we don’t do choreography. If anyone wants to become a proper dancer they have to go to a university or an actual dance school. I do choreography for productions at my public school though!
          Heh, I’m glad I inspired you ❤

        2. Haha, no. I don’t want to do it professionally. My school is a ‘normal’ high school, just dance is a compulsory elective for 4 years. My studio is also quite small. We don’t really do exams, it’s more just for fun – just how I like it!
I ended up dropping dance at school recently, because it was becoming too serious and all.
That sounds awesome! Do you mean choreographing for a group? I’ve always wanted to do that. At school, it was mostly as a solo, pairs or small groups – everyone working together… 😀

        3. Ohh, so you go to a normal school as well! It’s interesting that dance is compulsory for that long at your school, at my school it is a subject but very few people take it because the teacher honestly cannot dance. I’m not even sure how she became the teacher for it, she looks like she has never taken dance lessons and only studied the theory, lmao. And damn, that’s pretty sad. Dance can get quite pressuring.
Since I’m pretty much the only person in our school who actually takes dance lessons (because most dancers seem to come from wealthier schools), I help choreograph for the production dance troupe, so about 10-15 students. No one else are actually dancers though so I can’t make the dance as cool as I want to, sigh…

        4. Haha! That’s funny, but kinda sad about the teacher. Sometimes it seems a little bit like that with some of the teachers at my school. They do classes on the ‘limon technique’ and other strange, experimental things – lol. They are quite partial to reusing choreography, too. But it was always fairly entertaining.
That’s a shame you can’t do the choreography you want, especially when you have the greatest idea but it just won’t work…

Okay first of all, I’ll answer your questions. My favorite character is Best Turtle, who I still can’t figure out is supposed to have green hair or black hair. I ship Best Turtle and myself, Jade, and I ship Ebony with my firmly clenched fist. Also Gabriel is annoying me and I want to enact the Kick Down Flight of Stairs Movement of Chapter 3.5. Dude GET OVER YOURSELF. Oh my god, your feelers got stomped on. Where’s my GIF button? I need that family guy GIF of Peter saying “who the fuck cares”. Can I posts links? I’m going to find a link. I’m too lazy to find a link. Also, seriously right now, are Lilith and Best Turtle really together? I’m going to kill myself. Stop itttttttttttttttttttttttt. Stop. STOP. Best Turtle is surpassing my Caden love, which is really hard to do, but he’s managing. Ugh. I’m so sad.

He has rainbow hair, okay. Best Turtle is in three ships now I suppose. Lilith, Simsered and trashcan snrk snrk grandma potato. Let’s see you fight for him to the death! But at least you don’t have to fight to ship your firmly clenched fist with Ebony (I think I died at that line omg haha). Full steam ahead, I say!
Bro, you don’t know what happened to him yet though >.> Coming from the author’s perspective I’m surprised everyone seems to think what happened to Gabriel is far less worse than I know it is, but hey, good thing, it will be unexpected I suppose! And don’t worry I know what gif you’re talking about, lmao.
Raphael and Lilith aren’t together, he’s always been in that sad grey area called the ‘friend zone’. So you still have a chance mate.

  13. Hmmm I kinda ship Cherry and Lucifer too. I mean he’s kind of a player but he’s funny and he hasn’t hurt Cherry yet.
Gabriel on the other hand… I feel that he’s got too much baggage and that he’s already hurt Cherry’s feelings a couple of times. Ah, I don’t know!! I really want to see how all this will turn out. And find out more about Ebony, clearly she’s done something shady to Gabriel.
    Very nice chapter! 🙂

  14. My favorite character would be Cherry, because she’s the only one I truly understand at this point. I’m kind of shipping her with Gabriel, because I find myself annoyed by Luc’s overall vibe. It will take a lot of a redemptive arc for me to ship him with Cherry. But on the other hand, Gabriel is so hot and cold with her. I was totally relieved when she called him out on it, because it was really getting to the point of cruelty. Like geez… She’s not a plaything that exists to feed your ego, dude. I guess he’s conflicted and all that, but figure things out before stringing this girl along. You plucked her out of her home and is now basically dragging her to a life of crime. And one moment, you’re trying to kiss her, the next you’re telling her that your affection for her is mistake. Does he have a hero complex? Is she his damsel in distress?

Ebony coming into the story makes the plot thicken. I smiled when Cherry mentioned how there are so many attractive sims in Bridgeport. Well, your version of Bridgeport at least.

So far, I’m still kind of rooting for Cherry. She’s taking all of this in stride. She’s standing up for herself even in spite of her insecurities. She didn’t fall apart when Gabriel pushed her away then pulled her in then basically explained why by telling her he’s broken when he clearly knows she’s broken as well.

I’m not entirely sure if I’m taking Gen 3 too seriously or if I should just treat it as a fun romp with all these new (hot) characters, so I’m waiting to see where you take this to decide, but yeah… I like Cherry. After what she’s been through, the way I see it, she’s actually coping with these situations very well. Even if at times, she does seem naive.

    1. I think Cherry is definitely the most relatable at this point. To be honest, the reason why I hate her as a character so much is that now that I really look at her, most of her character is constructed with my own bad attributes. Her personality is a lot like mine in that she’s highly sensitive but does her best not to act it. So I see her and see the annoying parts I wish I could change about myself. I didn’t realise at the time I was creating her, since I didn’t put as much thought into the characters as the storyline (which is obvious). I definitely need to make sure I thoroughly think about each character for Gen 4. Luckily, I’m already well into developing the Gen 4 characters, so by the time the gen rolls around it should have none of the problems gen 3’s writing is plagued with! Sigh… the only great thing I can say about this gen so far is that it has helped identify issues in my storytelling, and prompt me to fix them.

Gabriel’s such a douche, almost as much as Luc. I really don’t like the way these two were characterised. Both of them have what I *think* are pretty legitimate reasons behind why they act this way (though of course it doesn’t validate being cruel to Cherry), but even so they annoy me. Gabriel truly does need to stop and figure out what he’s doing. I can say he doesn’t have a hero complex, but it certainly looks like it! *slaps him upon the head again*.

Huh, yeah, I gotta give it to Cherry that she really is trying her best to stay strong in this situation. I feel like she’s constantly teetering on the edge of breaking down.

Hmm…. you’re not taking it too seriously. This gen was ~supposed~ to be quite serious. But with my perspective on this gen so far, I don’t blame people for taking it more lightly. It has tons of silly tropes/stereotypes and not yet developed pretty-faced characters so with the chapters posted so far, it’s more like a fun teen novel. But what I’m currently writing should firmly boot the feel into a far more mature atmosphere, or so I hope. As we discussed before, I want my story to mean something. There’s not a lot of actual meaning behind the first 9 chapters, just some action and angst, which annoys me. It makes trying to fix this story difficult. But I will try my best!

      1. I’ll post a lot of my thoughts so far on the next chapter. All I can say right now is kinda wish she would break down. I think she deserves it. I think it will be healthy for her actually.

      2. Oh and by the way, to some extent, we’re all like that. Like Cherry. Women are often told to dial back on the sensitivity. We don’t want to be called over-sensitive or too emotional. So we try not to be even if inside, we’re breaking down. That’s why I think Cherry’s story can be really powerful. How does she rise from this?

        Liked by 1 person

        1. You’re right, we are often told that we are ‘too emotional’ and things like that. I get what you mean.
I’m having real difficulty on trying to figure out how she matures. I’m juggling between having her break down completely or have someone else break down and have her be the one helping. I’m really not sure.

  15. My moral compass is getting confused at the work they are doing – yes they are helping those less fortunate, and yes they are taking from (in this case) people who kind of deserve to be robbed but I doubt that’ll be the case every time. I find myself asking the same question Cherry, why is everyone here so attractive XD Unless I’m tripping, I didn’t think Ebony resembled Lilith that much… Also, even though we haven’t seen him that often I think Raphael is my favorite. My obvious ship is Gabe and Cherry so I’m extra curious as to who this mystery girl is, I don’t think she’s the girl Gabe was talking about… or is she? This chapter had all the elements I love, misunderstandings and mystery 😉

    1. I don’t support their criminal activities, but you will find out in time the incentives behind them, and it will hopefully make sense!
Yep, Ebony doesn’t actually look like Lilith, if you put them side by side. Some people were just saying that because the last time they saw Lilith was quite a while ago haha.

  16. Another gorgeous chapter. The editing on your pictures as well as the compositions and everything – freaking gorgeous 😀 Oh, I’m getting so close to the new chapter. It’s exciting! This is already exciting – could it be that the girl Gabriel talked about was this one?

  17. Ahhh! No wonder seeing Gabriel in Different Winters throws you off balance- not only do they have the same name, but they both also lost someone they loved and were reluctant to enter any new relationship because of it. That whole scene when Gabriel admits there was a girl gave me mega flashbacks to my Gabriel’s past—threw me off balance too! I want to know more…what happened and whether this girl is still around. Whether the girl is actually Ebony and what happened there.

I know you keep warning me about this generation, but so far, I’m still enjoying it!

Also, it’s been years obviously and everything is written, but answering the questions anyway…I’m still getting to know the characters, but I do like Lilith a lot. I like how kind she was to Cherry from the start, how willing she was to help her out and make her feel comfortable in a strange new place. People like that are gems. She didn’t even know who Cherry was, but didn’t hesitate to help and comfort her. Heck, Gabriel was even the one to bring Cherry there, and Lilith did more to help her settle in than he did!

On that note, I’m not sure who I ship yet. I don’t like how both Gabriel and Lucifer are always grabbing Cherry, but idk, that might be my own personal preferences seeping into it. I would literally SMACK anyone who grabbed me like that out of nowhere, so whenever it happens my head kind of explodes a little, lol. Of the two though, so far it feels like maybe Gabriel has the softer side and I’m a bit more open to him, but I don’t feel like I know Lucifer well enough yet either. Raphael I do like, but still getting to know him too. I’ll see if/how my opinion changes as I continue to read! ♥

    1. You’re right! I think both Gabriels do have this similar broody vibe, shadowed by their pasts…

The worst is soon to come 😭

Aww that’s great to hear! Lilith is a lovely character, although not without her flaws—she’s a little bit of a trope, which I suppose isn’t a terrible thing in her case, because she makes for such a comforting presence. She’s strong, and despite having almost as dark pasts as her brothers, her spirit is bright and kind.

Don’t even ship them LOL. Luc is my most hated main character out of this generation, even though back then he was the most interesting to write, so he was my favourite in that sense (not in this stage, when’s he’s a typical jock asshole, but later on). His behaviour in this chapter and the next few is absolutely atrocious. I’m totally with you! I would 100% smack any guy who touches without permission, and this is just worse (and it gets worse, ugh). I really, REALLY don’t like the trope in YA media where the love interest/s are disrespectful, pushy, borderline abusive jackasses. I think the trope is starting to phase out now, but I still find it alarming how in some books/shows/movies that kind of guy is still viewed as an “attractive” and acceptable option (*cough* Twilight, After, etc). It’s an incredibly unhealthy idea to be pushing upon impressionable teenage girls, and I think this generation shows that, because years later now, I would not be able to stand writing such characters as possible love interests. In fact, Mako’s character in En Pointe is a direct reaction against it!

      1. Yes, that’s exactly it! As it stands right now, both Gabriel and Luc do fall into that trope a little where they’re a bit disrespectful and a bit pushy and it rankles me, which is why I don’t ship Cherry with either of them yet. They both have a lot of growing up to do, haha. I’m keeping my mind open though as the characters are young and will probably go through many changes as the generation continues. Or maybe they stay that way, if your hatred of Luc is any indication, lmao. Guess I’ll find out! XD

        1. Fallen Angels is the hardest generation for me to reread (for the longest time, I couldn’t even do it) because of that exact feeling! These three indeed have so much reflecting and maturing to do if they want to become healthy and happy people. Prepare to get even more rankled before that might happen though 😭

  18. Reading your comments is really interesting, seeing your opinions then vs now. I get why your opinions have changed, it’s definitely a trope we tend to fall into more when we’re younger and later recognise it wouldn’t actually be great in real life LOL. I certainly don’t think they’re the worst examples of the trope though, not yet anyway haha!

And oooh boy, reminds me that I have a specific part/relationship in my story I get F E A R whenever anyone goes back and reads the beginning of. Not old stuff, so not for The Cringe™, but I always worry that someone might take it the wrong way, because it was *meant* to start toxic…

    1. Oh fuck LOL don’t read my 16 year old self comments, they’re the worst 😭 It just really goes to show that teens don’t know better, and that’s why YA media that approves of these characters/relationships is a big problem.

The F E A R is too real. Man, now I’m curious. I’ll keep that in mind when I come across it 🤔
